A Journey in Homoeopathy
Dr. Abhyankar began practising Homoeopathy in 1992 after completing his BHMS. Early in his career, he made a conscious decision to pursue Homoeopathy as the primary focus of his clinical practice.
He subsequently undertook an intensive one-year clinical research and training programme with the Institute of Clinical Research, Pune, whose parent organisation was based in Mumbai. This experience strengthened his foundations in clinical observation, case-taking and the practical application of Homoeopathic principles.
Over more than three decades of practice, his understanding of Homoeopathy has continued to evolve through clinical experience, study and interaction with fellow practitioners.
A significant phase in this journey began around 2017–18, when he was introduced to the work of Dr. Rajan Sankaran and witnessed him take a live case at PRANA. The experience influenced his understanding of case-taking, particularly the importance of listening closely to the patient’s experience and recognising the individual expression of illness.
He subsequently continued his learning through the Gurukul programme and Gurukul Extension, with an emphasis on clinical study, research, knowledge-sharing and contributing to the learning of fellow Homoeopaths and students.
Listening to the Individual
Every Patient Has a Different Experience of Illness
At the centre of Dr. Abhyankar’s practice is listening.
Two people may receive the same diagnosis yet experience their condition in very different ways. Understanding these individual differences is therefore an important part of his approach to clinical practice.
For Dr. Abhyankar, case-taking goes beyond simply documenting symptoms. It involves understanding how the individual experiences their illness, identifying the pattern in which their concerns present, and developing an individualised understanding of the case.
The patient’s own narrative and observations are given importance, alongside clinical experience, careful analysis and knowledge of Homoeopathic principles.
Listening. Individualisation. Clinical Reasoning.
These form an important foundation of his approach.
An Evolving Approach to Care
Dr. Abhyankar’s relationship with Homoeopathy has developed continuously throughout his 33 years of clinical practice.
While his professional journey began with a strong commitment to Homoeopathy, decades of clinical experience have brought a broader perspective to patient care.
Today, his primary focus remains the well-being and relief of the individual patient.
Where appropriate, care may be complemented through PRANA’s integrated specialties, including Yoga Therapy, Physiotherapy, Osteopathy & Manual Therapy, Acupuncture, Nutrition & Dietetics, and other supportive wellness services.
The intention is to understand the individual patient’s requirements rather than follow a rigid therapeutic approach.

Continued Learning & Professional Development
For Dr. Abhyankar, clinical practice is accompanied by continued learning.
His association with the Gurukul programme and Gurukul Extension has provided an ongoing platform for clinical study, discussion, research and knowledge-sharing with other Homoeopaths and students.
This continuing engagement reflects his belief that clinical practice should remain an evolving process of observation, learning and enquiry.
